We Are Red Hat

When Red Hat started their Employment Branding department in 2010, I was brought on board to help with design & strategy. At the time, I had been working with Red Hat's product marketing team for several years, so the switch to talent acquisition was unfamiliar and exciting.

My roles ranged from helping to craft a three year strategic plan to creating a look and feel for the company's new employment brand.

I updated the legacy careers page with a fresh look and loads of new content which helped Red Hat better compete for more of the industry's top talent.

At the time, Red Hat didn't have a mobile site so we made one dedicated to career opportunities.

The new look and feel of the employment brand relied heavily on photography. Instead of hiring professional photographers, we gathered photos shot by Red Hat employees. This gave the brand a community feel that felt authentic to the company's culture.

A design guide was created to help teach employees the fundamentals of the newly formed brand.

Just like our photography, our videos focused on content collected from Red Hat's employees around the world.

Instead of having employees talk about their jobs, we asked them to share with us anything they were passionate about. A lot of times, these interviews weren't focused on Red Hat at all and the results were more compelling.

A small action can speak volumes about how someone feels about about their job.

About Me

I describe myself as a designer but I'm more of an obsessive generalist. I just love to learn new things. Throughout my career I've found myself working on a range of different projects like creating an employment branding strategy for a global company to filming medieval vikings in the snowy mountains of Utah.

These days, I'm busy hanging out with my daughter and making animations from my home studio in Raleigh, North Carolina.
